In the new year, Headliner’s number one goal remains expanding and improving our video editor to help you reach your podcast marketing goals and find new listeners. In 2021, we will also continue to add integrations, expand our knowledge base, and support the community of podcasters focusing on marketing and growth of the podcasting segment.
To help us plan for a new year and ensure we continue to provide support and information on the topics that are important to our users, we decided to take a look at our most popular blog topics of 2020.
7. Monetizing your podcast in a crowded and growing market
The podcast space is growing quickly. Podcast Insights 2021 reports that there are currently over 1,750,000 shows and over 43 million episodes as of January 2021. For comparison, Apple reported 550,000 podcasts in June 2018–that’s an increase of more than 218%.
Undoubtedly, this kind of growth certainly catches the attention of advertisers looking to connect with new audiences.
According to Grand View Research, the global podcasting market size was valued at USD 9.28 billion in 2019 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 27.5% from 2020 to 2027.
With a space and market showing this scale of growth, learning how to earn a profit with your podcast is a no-brainer.
6. LinkedIn: a specialized social network
According to LinkedIn, the website has 706 million members worldwide, and content shared across the platform was up nearly 50% year-over-year in June 2020.
What began as a recruitment platform has evolved into a professional content sharing mega-site.
LinkedIn now has 15X more content impressions than job postings.

5. Integration makes the world go round
At Headliner, our goal is to provide tools to help you reach your podcast marketing goals and grow your audience. To reach the most podcasters, we work diligently to expand our integration partners. In 2020, we integrated with Castos, Libsyn, Descript, Blubrry, and Spreaker.

In 2020 we added two more image and media integrations to Headliner, which vastly increased the images and templates available to you within the editor itself.
- Canva: that’s right, we have the Canva Button! If you have a Canva account, you now have direct access to millions of their graphics, images, templates, design elements, and more without leaving Headliner.
- TONL: we’re thrilled to offer the TONL image library to Headliner users. TONL challenges the stale, homogenous look of traditional stock photography by showcasing the many ethnic backgrounds of everyday people.
4. Engagement is the key to podcast marketing
Building an engaged fanbase is one of the fastest ways to grow your audience. Increasing your podcast promotion options on social media through video is our biz, and we will continue to add features to our editor to make your videos more engaging.

3. Transcripts are versatile content
First and foremost, transcripts ensure that more people have access to your content, which is always a good thing. In addition to increasing accessibility, transcripts offer a solid starting place for creating additional content to increase your podcast marketing variety.
Making your content work harder on more platforms increases its reach and creates more listener touchpoints for your brand.

1. Vodcasting embraces routine changes in the time of COVID-19
Not surprisingly, our most popular blog post of 2020 was about the impact of COVID-19 on podcasting and using vodcasting as a way to reach audiences through video.
People’s lives have been turned upside down due to COVID-19, and consequently, their listening habits have also changed. Routines that included listening to your favorite podcasts, like commutes to work, lunch break walks, or gym sessions at the end of the day, have all slowed or completely stopped.
However, the consumption of online video has seen dramatic increases during 2020. According to Cisco, by 2022, online videos will make up more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic—15 times higher than it was in 2017.
Well, as they always say: if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!
While we are happy to leave 2020 in the rearview mirror, we look forward to helping you create the most impactful and engaging videos to market your podcast this year.
Cheers to 2021 and happy podcasting!
