Keep It Short and Sweet
We know podcasts are a long-form art, but to advertise your show, we advise you to keep it short and sweet. Setting a short time-limit will help you ensure your message is clear and concise, with no added fluff or unnecessary details. Condense the main points of a full episode of your podcast into a minute or less, showcasing all the things that make your podcast unique without giving anything away.
Be Personable
People will listen to your podcast for a few reasons, and one of the most important ones is you! Your voice, your personality, and your unique outlook on the world will all be reasons for listeners to tune in, so be sure to introduce yourself and be personable in your trailer. Show off the parts of your personality you draw from to produce your podcast to give viewers of the trailer an idea of whether they will like your style or not.
Brag
Although you won’t have a ton of time to toot your own horn, sharing some of what makes your podcast special in your trailer will help draw people in. Is your podcast funny? Share a short clip of a particularly funny moment in a recent episode! Do you interview interesting or famous people? Include the names of some of your most well-known and exciting past or upcoming guests. Do you have years of experience and credentials relating to the topic of your podcast? Share your experience with potential listeners to let them know what you are bringing to the table.
