Podcasts have seen consistent growth over the past few years, with more listeners beginning to tune in to their favorite shows regularly. Despite steady growth in popularity, few people venture outside popular podcast directories and platforms to investigate small or independent podcasts instead of sticking within their comfort zones.

While it makes perfect sense that audiences would feel more comfortable using a trusted platform or podcast directory, growing an audience is extremely difficult for up and coming podcasters. Smaller, independent, or less recognizable podcast directories and platforms may afford you a certain number of listeners, but you are unlikely to reach massive audiences.

One of the most popular (if not the most popular) listening platforms for podcasts is Apple Podcasts (or iTunes). For listeners with iPhones, Apple Podcasts is likely their first or only introduction to podcasts and their main resource for finding and discovering new content. Apple Podcasts has one of the largest databases of podcast content currently available, containing more than 500,000 active podcasts to date in more than 100 languages.

Basically what we are saying is: if you are a podcaster, you want to be on Apple Podcasts.
