A few weeks ago, we sent Headliner users a survey asking what podcast-related gifts were on their wishlist this year. Well, more than 230 podcasters and content creators responded to help us put together this list (thank you!).

There are no affiliate links here, these are just the items that were mentioned most often in each category. Whenever possible we linked directly to the manufacturer’s website rather than a third party seller.

Here’s the ultimate podcaster holiday wishlist for 2020.

Microphones

  • Shure SM7B Vocal Microphone: This mic was by far the most mentioned microphone of the survey. With over 1,000 five-star reviews on Amazon, a lot of people agree with you.
  • Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone: The Shure MV7, which is advertised specifically as a podcast microphone was the second most mentioned mic. It’s also around $150 cheaper than the SM7B.
  • Røde NT-USB Mini Studio-Quality USB Microphone: The Røde NT-USB comes in at right around $100. According to a review by PC Mag, this mic “doesn’t boast the biggest feature set, but it delivers a clear, crisp, DSP-free signal in an easy-to-use design.
  • Blue Yeti Pro: The second-most requested USB mic of the survey is the Blue Yeti Pro. This is a versatile mic that Blue boasts has “the convenience of USB microphones with the flexibility of XLR microphones.”
  • Sennheiser MKH 416 Microphone: Coming in at about $1,000 the MKH was by far the most expensive and the only tube mic making the list of quite a few of you.
  • Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser Microphone: Claiming to be the “perfect mic for creators,” another relatively affordable mic on your list is the AT2020, coming in at right around $100.

Headphones

Mixers/Recorders/Interfaces

  • The Zoom LiveTrak L-8: There’s a reason this was the most popular mixer/recorder on your list–it was made specifically for podcasters. According to Zoom, “the LiveTrak L-8 combines Zoom’s famous audio performance with features made for podcasters.”
  • The Podtrack P4 Podcast Recorder: It’s no surprise that the second most popular item in this category was also from Zoom. This battery-operated (optional) compact recorder is perfect for the podcaster on the go.
  • Røde RODECaster Pro: Røde makes some big claims with this one; however, it’s popularity and reviews seem to back them up. Røde describes this as “…all you will ever need to create incredible podcasts.
  • Roland Octa-Capture Hi-Speed USB Audio Interface: This portable USB audio interface boasts ten inputs, ten outputs, and eight VS Preamps.
  • Behringer Xenyx X1204USB Interface: According to reviews, this entry-level mixer has a lot of bang for your buck with a small footprint to boot.

  • Sony ZV-1 Camera for Content Creators and Vloggers: “Designed for content creators” this 4K camera is selfie-friendly thanks to its flip screen, and it has a directional three-capsule mic built-in.
  • The Zoom H6 Audio Recorder: Made for live or on-location recording, this pocket-sized recorder offers six mic/line inputs, and up to 6-track recordings.
  • Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam: This mightily little webcam was mentioned often in our results. It offers a 78-degree field of view and features a full HD glass lens and HD auto light correction.
  • Lume Cube Lights: These seem like a lot of fun and extremely versatile due to their small size. Could be a really nice alternative to the ring light.
  • Joby GorillaPod Tripod: Take and attach your camera to just about anything with these alien-like tripods. These mightily little stands can support seven times their own weight and full 360-degree rotation.
  • Canon EOS M50: According to Digital Camera World, this camera “finally hit the mirrorless sweet spot for Canon, combining features, a viewfinder and affordability.”

Studio Accessories

  • Autonomous Standing Desks: By far the most popular item requested in this category — y’all love an Autonomous standing desk.
  • Marantz Professional Sound Shield: This versitle sound shield is made up of 5 high-quality perforated metal panels (3 stationary, 2 foldable) and can be used directly on a recording desk or fastened to a microphone stand.
  • Philips Hue Lighting: Bringing a little ambiance into your recording space seems to be a priority this holiday. These smart lights offer a lot of versatility and mood.
  • Pyle Mini Portable Vocal Recording Booth: This is the second Pyle booth to make your list. This smaller version is portable and
  • Elgato Key Lights: These things are pretty cool. Wifi-enabled, app-controlled, and linkable to one another are just a few of the features that make these lights stand out.

  • Canva Credits or Subscription: As someone who’s recently just started using Canva, it’s an incredibly powerful tool at what feels like a very reasonable price point.
  • Arcade by Output: This loop and sample synthesizer lets you perform and manipulate loops in real-time with new content delivered every day.
  • Coffee and Tea: Caffeine-containing drinks were legit the second-most common answer in this category. Y’all need more sleep! 🙂
