Mother’s Day is Sunday, and we’re celebrating the best way we know-how, a round-up of shows hosted by the funniest, most laugh-out-loud moms in podcasting. These ladies tell it like it is—sharing the best and not-so-best parts of motherhood.
These ladies are your new best friends; here to support you commiserate with you, and send you to time out if you get out of line.
We hope you all have a happy Mother’s Day!
1. Margaret Ables and Amy Wilson
What Fresh Hell: Laughing in the Face of Motherhood
The aptly named “What Fresh Hell” is a comedy podcast about the never-ending “fresh hells” of parenting. These two moms could not have more different parenting styles. Margaret is laid-back to the max, while Amy never met a spreadsheet she didn’t like. They each have three children, and coincidentally (or maybe not), they share three episodes every week:
- Mondays: “Question of the Week”
- Wednesdays: Weekly episode
- Fridays: “Fresh Take” interviews with experts and authors
2. Sherri Shepherd and Kym Whitley
Two Funny Mamas
Hilarious comedians, actresses, and mothers Sherri Shepherd and Kym Whitley join forces to bring you a podcast that speaks to culture, sisterhood, motherhood, and working women everywhere.
In this podcast, “nothing is off-limits when these two funny ladies get together to talk about life, love, motherhood, singleness, relationships, dating, pop culture, sex (or the lack thereof!) and everything in between. Raw, unfiltered, and funny.”
3. Biz Ellis and Theresa Thorn
One Bad Mother
Biz and Theresa feel there’s way too much judgment and not enough laughing in the trials and tribulations of motherhood. Each week, these hilarious moms welcome guests from all walks of life, from Tony-award-winning actresses to authors, educators, and comedians as they deal with the thrills and embarrassments of motherhood.
4. Lynette Carolla and Stefanie Wilder-Taylor
For Crying Out Loud
If you’re married to Adam Carolla (like Lynette), we’ll assume that you have a great sense of humor, and you’re required to host a podcast. Lynette is joined by comedy writer and best-selling author Stefanie Wilder-Taylor (both mothers to twins) to bring you “a raucous hour of conversations covering a range of topics from their marriages and kids, to the pros and cons of Ferberizing to which one of the Real Housewives have had too much filler (all of them).”
5. Betsy Stover and Amanda Allan
Why Mommy Drinks
Betsy Stover talks with fellow parents about what their kids did that broke them and maybe even drove them to drink. Guests range from fellow comedians, to Hollywood directors, to Olympic athletes. There’s no advice and no judgement; just wild stories from the trenches of parenthood, and a reminder that we are all doing the best we can.
6. Shanna Micko and Laura Birek
Big Fat Positive: A Pregnancy and Parenting Journey
What happens when two best friends find out they’re pregnant for the first time? They start a podcast of course.
The show follows the moms-to-be on their journey through pregnancy and into new motherhood, week by week. With weekly check-ins, special guests and segments such as “OMG I’m Freaking Out,” Shanna and Laura recount the often hilarious and always honest highs and lows of being a pregnant woman and new mom.
7. Kim Holderness (and her husband Penn)
The Holderness Family Podcast
You might be familiar with this hilarious family from YouTube or Facebook, but they also have a podcast.
Here they share the real-life ups and downs of living together, working together, and raising kids together, in what they call a HolderMess.
8. Christina Pazsitzky
Where My Mom’s At? w/ Christina P.
The absolutely hilarious Christina P. (wife to comedian Tom Segura) shares the trials and tribulations of being a working mom to two young boys (three if you include Tom).
As you would imagine, Christina has some really funny friends that she likes to bring on the show. They take a look at all the ups and downs of parenthood with a “take no prisoners” attitude.
9. Alison Rosen (and Greg Fitzsimmons)
Childish
Hosted by real life friends, parents and award-winning podcasters Greg Fitzsimmons (Fitzdog Radio) and Alison Rosen (Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend), Childish will help you laugh about the struggles and joys of parenthood, grow closer to your children, learn something useful and maybe even put the spark back into your love life. This is safe for work. As long as you work in a meat packing plant.
